Majorana bound states induced by antiferromagnetic skyrmion textures

چکیده
Majorana bound states are zero-energy predicted to emerge in topological superconductors and intense efforts seeking definitive proof of their observation still ongoing. A standard route realize them involves antagonistic orders: a superconductor proximity ferromagnet. Here, we show that this issue can be resolved using antiferromagnetic rather than ferromagnetic order. We propose use chain skyrmions, an otherwise collinear antiferromagnet, coupled bulk conventional as novel platform capable supporting robust against disorder. Crucially, the region neither suppresses superconductivity nor induces superconductivity, thus allowing for localized at ends chain. Our model introduces new class systems where induced by editing textures locally tuning material parameters, opening avenues conclusive states.

متن کاملViewing Majorana Bound States by Rabi Oscillations
We propose to use Rabi oscillation as a probe to view the fractional Josepshon relation (FJR) associated with Majorana bound states (MBSs) expected in one-dimensional topological superconductors. The system consists of a quantum dot (QD) and an rf-SQUID with MBSs at the Josephson junction. Rabi oscillations between energy levels formed by MBSs are induced by ac gate voltage controlling the coup...
متن کاملUnconventional Josephson signatures of Majorana bound states.
A junction between two topological superconductors containing a pair of Majorana fermions exhibits a "fractional" Josephson effect, 4π periodic in the superconductors' phase difference. An additional fractional Josephson effect, however, arises when the Majorana fermions are spatially separated by a superconducting barrier. This new term gives rise to a set of Shapiro steps which are essentiall...
متن کاملQuantum fluctuations stabilize skyrmion textures
We study the quantum spin waves associated to skyrmion textures. We show that the zero-point energy associated to the quantum spin fluctuations of a noncollinear spin texture produce Casimir-like magnetic fields. We study the effect of these Casimir fields on the topologically protected noncollinear spin textures known as skyrmions. In a Heisenberg model with Dzyalonshinkii-Moriya interactions,...
متن کاملAntiferromagnetic Skyrmion: Stability, Creation and Manipulation
Magnetic skyrmions are particle-like topological excitations in ferromagnets, which have the topo-logical number Q = ± 1, and hence show the skyrmion Hall effect (SkHE) due to the Magnus force effect originating from the topology. Here, we propose the counterpart of the magnetic skyrmion in the antiferromagnetic (AFM) system, that is, the AFM skyrmion, which is topologically protected but witho...
